The Core Difference

About Having an Ultrasound

What is an Ultrasound?

A completely safe, radiation-free scan that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture real-time images of your internal organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues.

How is it performed?

Our expert sonographer will apply a warm, water-based gel to your skin. They will then glide a small handheld camera (a transducer) over the area to capture images on a monitor.

A serene workspace with a vase holding a single orange poppy flower, a glass of water, a pair of glasses, an open notebook, and two small vases on the desk, with a person writing in a notebook.

How long does it take?

Typically 15 to 30 minutes.

How to prepare

Preparation depends heavily on the body part being scanned:

Pelvic/Renal Scans: You will likely need a full bladder. We will ask you to drink water prior to your scan and hold it in.

Abdominal Scans: You may be asked to fast (eat/drink nothing) for up to 6 hours prior.

Risks & Side Effects

There are zero known risks or side effects. Ultrasounds are non-invasive, painless, and completely safe.
